Our Story

Meeting in college, most of us began living together in a little house right next to the ocean in San Diego and spent our days (and nights) rollerblading, skateboarding, biking, surfing, swimming and doing art — bonding us into the family we have now. First just hand pressing our designs onto t-shirts and wheeling about, we hopped on Etsy to establish Girls On Wheels in the fall of 2018.

Living together for 2+ years now and collecting many new friends along the way, we know the magic is in collaboration. In 2019 we decided to broaden our platform to showcase our art and the creations of our friends in a new way, one that reflects our collective passion for working with mixed media, upcycling, & conscious creating.

bright, luminous inspiration; to become absorbed in thought, to meditate

In Greek mythology the nine muses represent the arts and sciences: the goddesses of song, dance, and memory, on whose mercy the creativity, wisdom and insight of all artists and thinkers depended.

We are inspired by nature, by colors, and by the ethereal sense of oneness. We believe we adults can reabsorb a childlike sense of wonder. We believe imagination is intrinsic, and needs to be exercised. Through meditation, reflection, or even just a really good shower, great ideas are plentiful and it is our mission to put them into action and transform them into beautiful, fun, ethical and out-of-the-box creations.

Lastly, in our attempt to live as sustainably as possible we want to make it easy for others to do so as well. Check out our instagram where we’ve compiled other brands we love and support, tips to repurpose your own items, and to learn how you can join us in the fashion revolution.
